FYI to those waiting to upgrade to 4.2.1,the greenpois0n jailbreak is now out,and works like a dream!

So what do I need to do to Jailbreak then???
Do I download a proggy to my PC/laptop or can it be done totally mobile?

WOW... i never bothered jailbreaking because i thought it would be a right faf on, downloading all sorts of things trying to get it to install...
Just did the one Scott said in about 5 minutes!

Just a few of the best apps/hacks that you can install now you are jailbroken:
Five Icon Dock - Lets you have 5 app icons in your dock instead of 4
Folder Enhancer - Lets you have unlimited apps in folders, and folders in folders and much more
Lock Calender - Shows all your upcoming calender events on your lock screen
Notified Pro - A much improved notification system
PhotoAlbums+ - Allows you to create folders in the photo album and organise your photos
SBSettings - A Quick way to toggle various settings, ie turning on and off your bluetooth, wifi, adjust brightness etc all from a quick access menu with a simple gesture
Synchronicity - Allows you to keep using the phone whilst syncing in iTunes, no more annoying 'Sync in progress' screen
Some of these you have to pay for but its definitely worth it, makes the iphone the perfect phone!

to get INSTALLOUS
1) open cydia
2) press manage (bottom right)
3) press sources in the middle
3) press Edit (top right)
5) press Add (top left)
6) type: http://cydia.hackulo.us/ and press add source
7) press Add Anyway
8) when hackulo.us show on screen press that
9) scroll and find INSTALLOUS
10) install

well all is still going well on 4.2
only problem is Metadataremovr is no longer on cydia(meens that you could remove the updates for apps in the app store that you actually got from installous/torrents)

Forced to update mine tonight after updating appsync it got stuck in an infinite boot cycle. Restored to 4.2.1, used phone back up, jail broke, resynced and alls great.

did this to my mrs's 3gs and it works perfect... love the menu that comes up when you swipe the top bar, so much easier to change the brightness, wifi, 3g, bluetooth etc
Any other apps that people recommend to download? and how do i unlock it on this jailbreak? through red snow?

Right I've used GreenPoison to jailbreak my 4, and I've downloaded Installous. Everytime I download something from Installous it says invalid IPA, how do I fix this? Also what are the best things to download? I've got Winterboard, but can't find decent themes that work completely with 4.2.1. SBSettings is great, FontSwap works sometimes but not completely. Five Icon Dock I like. What is good about Notified Pro? Think thats all I've got just now.
