It's on sitting on the top gear of the petrol tank on the driver Side'just near the rear axel.

no it isnt, thats a breather for the tank.
The picture plastic device above sits on the rear of the gearbox next to where the OS shaft enters the diff, its simply a toothed drive that on olders spun the speedo cable or in this case rotates for the sensor to pick up
