I need help locating the VSS plug / assembly on an East Coast Citroen Saxo.

Will probably need pics

It's on sitting on the top gear of the petrol tank on the driver Side'just near the rear axel.

no it isnt, thats a breather for the tank.
The picture plastic device above sits on the rear of the gearbox next to where the OS shaft enters the diff, its simply a toothed drive that on olders spun the speedo cable or in this case rotates for the sensor to pick up
