Unhappy steering wheel vibration

Hi Guys

Over the last week or so, the steering wheel gets REALLY shaky.
It's fine below 40 odd, but its intermittent when it starts shaking?

i've been driving round trying to find the source but as i say it's totally random.
the old man seems to think it's a driveshaft but it's fine under (harsh and gentle) acceleration, it's really only at about 60mph (thats when its worst anyway) but you can go up to 65 and itll stop, then hit 80 and itll start again. Then again, sometimes you can be going along at 60 perfectly smoothly.

Anyway, i swapped the alloys from my other saxo over as tyres had no tread and these alloys have brand new tyres on. It may well be that the wheels aren't balanced properly?

As it's the nearly the weekend i thought i'd ask on here to see if anyone has had a similar problem or can point me in the right direction of things to give a once over.

I'll also note that i had a new set of wishbones and bushings on not too long ago (it has been running fine since, just ruling it out) and had my tracking done last week. come to think of it that's when it started!
it had the o/s/f wheel bearing done not too long ago, can't help but think if there was something wrong with the CV that side my mechanic would have said - but thats only one side. it does click a bit on lock but nothing major or extremely noticable, i only notice it because this is my third pug group car and im used to being over cautious and trying to find problems before they get too bad!

Thanks in advance guys

Wheel balancing. Many garages can't balance the alloys for Saxo's (because of the solid centres) I'd take it to a garage/tyre dealership that can balance them properly. Whilst unbalanced, your tyres will wear unevenly and could (in the longer term) cause problems with the steering parts and suspension of your motor.
