Got a strange sound coming from my 1.4 saxo it's kinda like a tapping or ticking sound when the engines running
Any ideas?

Sounds like you'll need to adjust your valve clearence.

I'm hoping Adjusting the baffle plate will do the trick, quick and easy but I've only just changed the gasket do I really need to again? As technically I know you should every time you remove rocker

Adjusting the baffle plate won't do anything. You need to adjust your tappets/valve clearances. It's a fairly easy job but you need to know what you're doing because it can damage the valves and engine if done wrong.
I can do them

Also as for rocker gasket, it depends how lucky you are, sometime you can take them off and put them back on and they're fine, but other times they leak.

You need to trace the source of the noise to findthe problem.
You can use a long screwdriver just put the blade on different parts of the engine and your ear on the other end untill you find where the noise is loudest or get a mechanics stethoscope less than £5 on ebay also phone microphones ar very sensative and are good for locating noises on engines.

Did that and seems to be a bit of both. I can hear it from cam cover but it's loudest around the inlet mani and injectors

might have a ticky injector by the sounds of it, runs alright? injector cleaner might ease it a bit, i would be checking the valve adjustment though.
i do the big screwdriver thing (hold the handle to the bone under your ear, i find its a little clearer) you can pinpoint a lot doing that.
suppose the big one is does it sound metallic?

It doesn't sound metallic no it's definitely more of a ticking sound louder from the inlet/injector area

probably injector/s then, second hand set of 4 on ebay for 30-40 quid, but i would try the big screwdriver thing, hold it to each injector body and see if one sounds different to the other, that should point you to which one/s

Doing the valve clearances is an easy job and it wouldn't hurt to do them anyways if they have never been done.

Just make sure the engine is stone cold when you do it.

Also make sure your oil level is ok,as that can cause a ticking sound.
