Anti Roll Bar/Drop Links
Good Evening all,
My brothers 1998 vtr has failed the MOT regarding the 'upper near side anti roll bar linkage dust cover'.
I have done some searching and found some very good tips and advice on changing these.
Just curious if I could be cheeky and replace the dust cover only? or do I need to change the whole link?
The garage want to charge £200 for this job and changing a couple of bulbs and a retest. My brother is new to driving so I said Im sure we could do it cheaper than that seen as the parts are so cheap.
Many Thanks guys
Dan

Holy shit, there about £10 each and you can change them yourself in less than a hour much less.

200 for a drop link?!
Get hold of an angle grinder or a decent hacksaw just in case, but they are easy to do. May as well do both sides and drive it away with a massive middle finger out the window.

This. I saw it being done before on my motor and if you cant get the bugger off, saw it off.

I always nail it with plusgas and loosen the nut a bit first so the torx/allen doesnt snap. Only had a few really bad ones that i had to cut off. If you have a new set though its so much quicker to just grind the bastards nuts until they break.

Nice one guys, tackled it today, had to chop them both off.
I dont think they've ever been changed before, the car has been in the family for a long time so know the history to a point.
MOT Retest tomorrow so have made a huge saving.
Thanks for the help
Dan
