No, not exactly.
Mine did go into limp mode after fitting the flywheel. Turning the ignition off then on again sorted it. But I went to a RR a few days later, and it was only running 120bhp! They cleared the DTCs and it ran 137bhp IIRC. Still low on power...
It's generally running quite rough, specially low in the revs. It's not happy about something. It didn't take to your ECU, Oli, well at all! It was odd, because in the past, i've had the odd misfire, and you can feel it! But when your ECU threw on the management light, everything was running nice and smooth at the time.

Could it be the crank position sensor with the aluminium flywheel? Although wouldn't explain the difference in behaviour with 2 diff Ecus, tricky one

Well, these ECU's set the spark from the crank position, so if that sensor was playing up, it could be very nasty.

Usually it wouldn't start at all if it was the crank sensor, and it would cut out/misfire badly.

if the symptoms were happening before the Alloy flywheel then that wont be affecting it, But may have made it more noticable! Sensor could be intermittent/fualty, Maybe thats the next thing to try?
Just to clear things up....
So your ecu runs a bit rough all the time, especially at 2-2.5 grand,
Then the other one was fine, but then went pretty much straight into limpus?

OK, let me try to clear this up in one big explanation.
From day 1 of getting my ECU mapped at Chipwizards, the EML has been on with the error code of P0606 - PCM / ECM processor malfunction. Wayne didn't know what it was, but he seemed confident that it didn't effect the map. When clearing this DTC, it always comes back on about 5 minutes later.
My car only made 140bhp on Wayne's rollers. TMS and Wayne deduced that the powerflop exhaust was the reason, so I was instrcuted to change this and all should be good. I fitted a Scorpion system, jumped on a local RR and the car showed just 125bhp. Not happy. I went straight back up to see Wayne and my car showed a magical 147bhp on his rollers. He then adjusted the cam timing until the car showed 153bhp, which he said was par for the course so to speak and was happy.
The car drove pretty well for ages... I changed the cylinder head to a stage 4 BV head, and took it to a reall RR, where they show genuine figures, and it made 141bhp. We then spent a couple of hours tweaking the cam timing and got it up to 146bhp, with superb gains all through the rev range. Car drove fine... Just for kicks, I went to JamSport where the car showed 165bhp! lol.
Anyway, the car has ALWAYS been a little hit and miss. Some days it would seem fine, and others it would feel a LOT slower. I could never get my head around it. Especially since the BV head went on, the car has got jumpy when light on the throttle and also when coming off. It was bad before, but it got worse. Now, it's really bad, it feels like it running a completely wrong map. If you try and hold the rpm at 2200rpm (for example) there's lot's of vibration and you can hear the engine making a "na na na na na" sound. If you go WOT from 1500rpm, as you pass through the 2000 to 3000 range, you can feel big flat spots as the power drops and comes back.
Now, the ally flywheel went in a couple of weeks ago. I believe whatever was already wrong with the engine has been amplified by this. Just moments after taking the car out of the garage, the car went into limp mode, and I could barely accelerate! Ignition off, back on, all good. Did it again! But since then, it's been fine. I went to a RR last week and the made a pathetic 120bhp and I've been on the same rollers a bout a year ago and it made 150bhp. No idea what was up... Until they decided to check the DTCs. There was:
- Random misfire detected
- Air leak detected
- ECM / PCM processor malfunction
They cleared these, and the car immediately picked up and made 137bhp. Graph was much smoother too. Obviously the ECU was in some kind of semi-limp mode...
And that brings us pretty much up to speed...

I had an issue about 1 year ago where the rpm would just shoot up to the limiter on its own accord! And when it wasn't doing that, it was hunting really badly and would almost stall every 5 - 10 seconds. I changed the ICV, but it made no difference. It did this for about 2 weeks, until I took the TPS out, cleaned it and put it back in. The problem didn't stop immediately though, it sorted of calmed down after a day or two. I don't know whether it really was the TPS or just the ECU throwing a wobbly... Tough one to figure out.

Right, having just spoken to Matt at Pug1Off, he's kindly said he'd take a look at the car for me. He seems fairly confident he can get it running nice so I don't miss out on the ring trip. What a top bloke!
I'm off there on Thursday this week.

He should sort it, he helped no end with my idle issues, which have now come back to haunt me
Best of luck pal.

Yeah, this problem seems different. I'm thinking a dodgy injector TBH...

it does sound toad like some sort of random fuelling issue. have u done all the really simple bollocks like running some injector cleaner through it etc??
Obvious i know but sometimes these things are forget. If you get bodies, are you using original fuel rail newho?
