Default Football Manager or Championship Manager?

Does anyone still play either of these?

If so which one?

I went wth FM when they split as afaik they were the people who made CM games, whereas the CM series after the split would be made by people who owned the CM name.

I played a bit of FM2010, my first since FM01/02 and enjoyed it so am looking to get the new one.

I notice there is no CM2011 this year for the PC/Mac, apparently they're taking a 'break' for a year which has apparently proved beneficial in the gap between 2008 and 2010.

There is however a CM2011 for the iPhone which imo means that CM2010 bombed and the 'pay what you like' PC offer back fired. Also that there is probably more money to be made from the phone game.

Always football manager.

After the split it was so much better than championship manager and has always remained so.

Just trying to sign my first player, Obasi and his agent has said that as he's in demand (by Bayern and Rubin) that he wants the talks to be quick.

The demands are:

£130k pw
£6.25m signing on fee! Which I cannot even offer him!
£2.7m agent fee!
£12.75K app fee & goal fee
£650k team of the year bonus (Division)
£1.3m after 15 goals

Ridiculous, I hope they're not all going to be like that.

Right so after trying to pull my pants down:

£130k pw
£6.25m signing on fee! Which I cannot even offer him!
£2.7m agent fee!
£12.75K app fee & goal fee
£650k team of the year bonus (Division)
£1.3m after 15 goals
£13m release clause

I counter-offered:

£65k pw
£1m signing on fee
£250k agent fee
£7K app fee & goal fee
£650k team of the year bonus (Division)
£1.3m after 15 goals
£40m release clause

The agent has come back and said "we are some way apart, here are my suggested terms":

£78k pw
£2.3m signing on fee
£1.8m agent fee!
£7.75K app fee & goal fee
£650k team of the year bonus (Division)
£1.3m after 15 goals
£13.5m release clause

I went back again:

£70k pw
£2m signing on fee
£1m agent fee
£7.75K app fee & goal fee
£650k team of the year bonus (Division)
£1.3m after 15 goals
£40m release clause

The agent then said he was getting tired of the negotiations and that this was what his client was after and went back to his figures, mainly demanding:

£78k pw
£2.3m signing on fee
£1.8m agent fee
£13.5m release clause

I deleted the release clause, offered £70k with the signing and agent fees that he wanted but it wasn't good enough and that was that lol.

He signed for Bayern on nearly half what I offered him with no release clause.

First major FM frustration.

Who are you playing as? Make sure you sign Marco Verratti. He costs less than £1m and will be awesome in 2-3 years. Always my first singing on FM2010 and he looks just as good on 2011

EDIT: The first official patch is out just in case you didnt know:

Toned down the initial agent demands regarding very large contract offers.

I could've done with this.

I'm playing as Spurs btw.

If its anything like the old ones then you dont need that much football knowledge tbh.

You could have stupid tactics that would never work and loads of players people had never heard of and win the league

It's nothing like the old ones, it's insanely complex compared to them.

I'd prefer to play an older version like CM3 tbh just with updated players.
