i phoned my mate up that work for a call center, and he said that he has had an email a couple of hours ago that they have sold 1.3 million copys and was more then anticipated, the severs crashed and there working on getting it sorted but there was no time or date when.

Same here, its stopping at the "Play Online" button. I keep getting the connecting to matchmaking server thing.
That tweet did say gradually though.

In IW's defence... its apparently their server capacity which is to blame. sales were higher than expected selling 1.2million copies in the UK alone. so imagine worldwide... 
either way you would have thought they'd have some sort of disaster recovery procedure in place and have planned for this type of event... this is the last thing they would have wanted so surely they would have thought about it and planned for it. havent tried going online this morn yet... will go see how it is...

yeah will be the ps3 servers not the IW ones, reason i say this is because the xbox was fine all night so if it was IW then the xbox wouldnt of worked either
it was back up today as i have been on it most of the day
