Not likely really, they are not going to want to piss off current loyal customers.

Exactly, there will be plenty of people who will wait almost a year or so for their birthday or something to get the console..

Apparantly you can turn the kinect sensor off if you like. A lot of people are really looking at the negatives of this console such as the lack of current exposure it has been given on the gaming market.
Microsoft have pledged no less than $1Billion on games for it and the E3 event is where all the gaming information will be released.
You are a fool (not you specifically) if you believe that they are making a console that is not going to have gaming at its epicenter. Yes they are honing in a lot on the TV aspect of things but realistically what else can be brought to a game now other than oustanding graphics and the ability to control it without having a physical controller in your hands.

The more you read into it, the games are just a by-way for data mining, thats where the real money is. Call of duty aside, many games dont profit as much as youd think.
The kinect can detect heart rate (and blood flow with that) so they could show you a white, asian and black lass on screen and tell what your preference is. Odd example perhaps but theyll be able to work out exactly what floats your boat in every manner, theyll know your age, ethnicity, when you get up, your voice, movie tv and music preferences... absolutely EVERYTHING they could hope toknow to make selling your data even more profitable.
Will that monitoring cost a bit in terms of bandwidth? Yep, but you didnt think the 300,000 servers mentioned at launch were just for games did you?

Kind of makes you wonder why you have to select optiona to turn it "off" rather than being unable to disconnect it. Wait, could it be that the massive corporation doesnt give a fuck what you select and will record anyway...
I dont mean to come across as a conspiracy theorist but ms' conduct and skirting of issues and questions makes me question their transparency and motives.

Went into Game on saturday, guy was saying it could be anywhere from £450 to £700. Simply not paying that to be honest, hardware should be cheaper these days

Is it definitely the case though that you are unable to remove it completely?

Pure speculation imo. It would be business suicide to sell for as much as 700, especially with the Ps4 chasing it. That said, i dont think a £400 price tag is unrealistic, i seem to remember paying close to £300 for my 360 on launch day lol

According to one of the MS PR guys, yes, the console wont operate without it.

Yeah £400 isn't all that bad tbh and it will likely be bundled with a game which will likely retail for around £50 - £60.
Having said that I will not be rushing out to buy one. 360 works fine (touches his wood) atm and if it isn't broke ... don't fix it.

I still think £400 is too expensive frankly, in 2005/6 when the 360 came out then yes I'd expect that much as it was the opener to more accessible online gaming. Thats all old hat now so the hardware should be cheaper

is there only going to be one version this time round? or the different models like from the first 360 launch?
Personally I'd just go for the base/arcade model like I did with the 360
To be fair though 300-400 quid over 8 years of usage isn't so bad really

Some people are retards.
Kinect MUST be connected but CAN be turned off. Even if it is connected, it'll see/hear/record NOTHING until you say "Xbox (whatever)"
Who gives a fuck if they collect data? I certainly don't. I don't care if they know that I play sitting down, stood up or hanging from the ceiling. Also, why would I care if they know I'm a skinny white guy as opposed to a fat Asian guy? What difference does it make?
You lot sound like the kind of people that pay cash for everything, have no contracts and hide from CCTV just in case.
Get a fucking grip!
