Herroooo, making some progress!
Whiteline rear ARB fitted. sexxxxxy
Discovered my MOT runs out on Friday so need to get that booked in for tuesday or thursday, fitted a new washer pump so i have windscreen washers for the first time since i bought it (woo!), need to fix my blowing exhaust and blown number plate light for MOT.
Also the gearbox mount has decided it cant cope with the extra stress from the vibratechnics upper engine one so will be getting replaced with a vibratechnics one probably next week, new discs and pads all round are required shortly followed by new tyres, a new exhaust and some carbon bits and bats.
Longer term plans include RS2 inlet and coilovers.

MOT FAILED
Had it in today, failed on offside front track rod end and both small brake pipes from the rear compensator to the flexi's. Getting new track rod end tomorrow, already got brake pipe so will all be fitted on thursday and re-tested on fritag!
6 advisories, needs 3 tyres sharpish and front discs, bit of corrosion on te rear brake hose ferrules too.
THEREFORE, payday this month will not be spent on a loud exhaust but brakes and tyres!

Ergh, what a shitter. Least its getting sorted quickly.
I'm in the same position though. Thought this month I'd be buying some shiny new wheels. Instead its gonna be a brake conversion. RUBBISH.

Yeah I don't mess around, good job I'm not at work for the rest of the week
God tell me about it, but after choosing modding over servicing/fixing on each of my saxo's and have them fall apart around me think its time for a different approach.
Its needed new brakes for a while anyway and the tyres have been shot since Santa Pod. I want to get my wheels painted/buy some Pro Race 3's aswell, oh and some Recaro Trendlines.

a reliable saxo!? theres two words that shouldnt be uttered in the same sentance.
same as any car, keep up the servicing and itll be reet. common faults... dephaser pulley (sounds like a diesel when warmed up) caused by not enough oil changes, its a belts off job to change it. dodgy belt changes puts timing out so needs to have been done at a specialist, wouldnt buy one that hadnt had the belts done at a specialist tbh. shock absorbers leak and give up the ghost after about 60k. had no breakdowns in it though just niggles. plus 40mpg too

Ok so I never re-booked the MOT till Saturday. It is going back in at 9.00 tomorrow morning with the brake lines and track rod end fixed and the Hankooks on the front (excellent tyres btw)
With both vibra mounts fitted there is absolutely no engine movement at all. When you shake the engine the car shakes, barely any increase in vibrations either
Went out and took some photos of it with some mates on friday ill stick them up tomorrow, for now a photo of my vibratechnics gearbox mount:

You spend a ridiculous amount on your car each month
I like it a lot though. If I could afford to run two cars I would definitely get another 172. Miss mine soooooooo much
