Canon EOS 350D (what should i pay for one)
Been looking into getting a half-decent SLR to start with.
I was looking at the Nikon D40 but then a friend who is into Photography suggested getting a Canon EOS 350D, but can have been discontinued so will have to buy second hand.
I was just wondering what I should be looking to pay for one of these in good to average condition.
Also I know there is an earlier model of the same Camera called the Rebel XT, should i be avoiding these ones or are they the same? Some info would be much appreciated.
Thanks Matty.

She said... buy Canon and the 350D is really good camera to start with. I will listen to other suggestions too if anyone has any.

350 D are good lil cameras, but discontinued like 2-3 years ago, so imagine what the shutter count will be on one of them!
the 400D the model that replaced it, is a great piece of equipment and can pick them up very good condition for cheapppp. they have the better processor, more pixels and build quality.
depends how picky you want to be, the kit lens isnt all that great but you get what you pay for.
but if you are intersted , my mate has a 350 body and 18-55 kit lens for grabs as he has upgraded to a 5d MK II. pm me and i can find out more info on price etc ...

Iv been told not to worry about the shutter count especially on a 350D plus anyway the whole point of looking to buy a cheaper one is to actually see if I can get into photography. Let me know more about this 350D thats for sale cos im going to have a play with one of my friends 350D's at the weekend.
Thanks!

if i was in your shoes, i would get the same branded cam as what all my mates have (i.e canon, nikon, pentax etc)
then you can nick all their lenses and have a play.

i doubt any 350/400/450d will have a huge shutter count, its not a pro camera, so its not (usually) going to be used every day.
wait for a 350/400 to come up cheap somewhere, or even look for a 10/20/30d, i got a 30d for £230 on ebay, no lens tho.

Well my friend has a 400D but they are quite expensive and she said there isnt much different between the 350D and the 400D and she has loads of lenses. I quite like the feel of it and the 350D doesn't seem that much different.

there isnt alot of differences between 300/350/400/450, but each difference IS there.
so a 350d is 2 models backwards.
after getting my cameras, id suggest saving and spending as much on the body as you can, as then you can build up lenses.
if your new to the idea or photography, and want to have some fun with a DSLR but dont want to spend £300 + why not try a bridge camera, i had a fuji S5600 for 2 years and learnt soooo much, it was the perfect introduction in to photography.
