Default Protection for a brand new black car

I've recently bought myself a new car. It's in black. Worst colour I know but I love cars in black! It has had a safe guard polish and treatment and supposedly doesn't need a polish for a year?! How true this is I don't know? So basically looking for some advice on what to use to protect my paint and to keep it gleaming cheers

Hope you didn't pay for the 'safeguard', they usually throw it in free and its normally done half arsed anyway.

I think you mean not have to Wax it for a year? If you wash it using a correct method, it shouldn't need polishing for many years!

Wash using the correct two bucket method with a decent wash mitt, shampoo and drying cloth. Then apply a decent wax. Do this weekly if you have time (wax monthly/quarterly) and you should have decent paintwork for a while!

Biggest load of shit ever invented, really is. But if you didn't pay for it then fair enough. Just don't believe you don't have to polish it.

If I had a brand new car I'd do a full correction to start with. I know it's new but it won't be perfect then just keep on top of it. Also, black hole is a glaze (I prefer prima amigo) so needs a wax/sealant on top!

Depends if the dealer had one of the 16year old idiots that they all seem to have around the back clean it with a gravely sponge. It should be pretty good.

Just try to avoid making it worse, two bucket method with a decent mitt.
