Removing spare wheel cage, 2002 vtr.
Can't see how this comes off, my mk1 had a bolt on bit on the bracket, took that off and it came off easily, the late mk2 one appears to be one piece so i'd have to cut the cage with a grinder to get it off. Or am i missing something?

Gay, why can't they have left it like the older design, french bastards. They ruin the wiring(3 plug ecu), they fit cats in the manifolds, they change the door pins, they change the spare wheel carrier. what will i find next lol

So the MK1 was a bolt on? You don't happen to still have that old spare wheel cage do ya?

I do yes. and the bracket.
Basically if you imagine there are the two brackets coming off the crossmember on the car, they are welded on. one side is solid and on mk1s the other side is a bracket bolted to the main bracket so you undo a 10mm bolt and you can just pull the cage off. you wouldn't be able to fit a mk1 cage to a mk2(after 2001) My AX and 106 spare wheel cages were also the same as mk1 saxo. the cage essentially is the same, just how it mounts that is different.

I tried taking mine off, it looks like you need it on a lift, so you can swing it about 160 degrees, then it will just slide out the bracket.
