Reclaiming bank charges is currently going through the courts atm as to whether or not you can actually do it. Im currently in the process of claiming back roughly 1 grand in totalled charges and interrest.
There is a website ill find it for you.

If its 1 charge it wont go throught he courts like said above.
If its the first time, call up the bank and say its a general mistake. Like i said if its the first time they will recredit your account.

You can put the claim forward yes by all means, some times they'll offer you a small bit of what you think your owed.
Say if your claiming £1000 (in my case ish)
They offered me £400
Now I could either accept that money and just leave the £600 (once you accept it you cant claim the rest)
OR
Say no ill wait till the test case result etc. which could either mean ill get my £1000 plus a few extra charges OR nothing
Bit of a gamble tbh (which i took)

One charge = go into bank, say your not happy, always in the black etc. (have you got an agreed overdraft?) demand refund of charges.

well i went to the bank today(natwest) and they said that they only refund charges thats the fault of the bank, so because it wasnt the banks problem they wont refund it, she was being a bitch about it, any other methods of getting the money back?

all i know/believe is that because they are going through courts still they can still charge however much they want, count yourself lucky, my bank tried to charge me £15 a day for being o.d that's not a nice prospect when you don't get paid for 14 days!

it really does especially when you realise what they charge is meant to be for. since when did it cost someone £38 to click some buttons on their computer!

if its the first charge
do this
send them a letter, as if it has come from a company with a header etc.
just say thanks for making me aware that my account will be charged. i can assure that i will take caution in the future to stop this happening again.
due to work commiments, i have had to ask for this letter to be compossed and forwarded to you.
the admin charge for this letter is ......(the same as the bank charge) please credit .................(your account details).
my dad and i have done this on a few occasions and they have to pay you.
they have credited my account before, no probs. just dont take the piss with the amount lol
after all, its only for admin charges.
i found out from a local radio show once years ago lol
