Thumbs down Tax Problem

Right i had a problem with my car when gettin tax as DVLA put my private reg onto someone elses car n we only found out when i came to renew my tax as the reminder had my old reg on although the dvla changed the reg to my new one on my log books and replaced the tax disc..

i had to wait a few days to get my tax til it was resolved and the admitted it was there fault! i admit i drove my car to the DVLA office to sort it out but never got flashed as far as i know

q) i got a letter in the post saying my car (reg no) was caught on 10th may without tax driving through a village n they have photographic evidence!! BUT.... my tax disc on the little ring has 4/4/08 is that the day i purchased my tax? as ive lost my receipt! and there is no way i went 2whole weeks til the 10th of the month without tax as it was sorted and in my car within a few days!

do you think the dvla due to the problem i had with my reg have for some reason not registered that i bought my tax as the date on the disc says 4may 2008.. aslong as that states the day the disc was purchased i should be ok shouldnt i? as they are saying i was caught on the 10th

Tax discs don't usually run from a specific day they are usually dated to the end of the month!! are u sure it doesn't say the 4th month 2008 which would make it the end of April therefore that would explain what is going on!

Best to speak to the DVLA/who ever sent the letter & explain what has happened!

Your car tax is valid from the date stamped on it! So fine is in error!
