Creaking when braking + Clunking noise - Saxperience

Recently notices that when braking i get a wierd sort of creaking noise coming from the front, and also recently have noticed a clunking noise when coming on/off the clutch when changing gear and bringing it up to the bite. Anyone got any ideas as to what could be going on? Last MOT gave an advisory on a slightly leaking shock absorber, could it be anything to do with that? Its a 2000 1.1 with 50,000 on the clock. Thanks!
