Mk1 is bigger than the mk2 also. The mk1 is kind of shaped a bit like a banana, whereas the mk2 is just a smaller kind of lip kicking off the tailgate.

The reason I asked is that I want to get a Dimma spoiler and wanted to know what the fit would be like between the 2 versions.

Well here's the story. I have a Mk2 VTR and I brought a boot from djflipsaxo which came off a Mk1 VTR I think. I am getting my boot smoothed and need my car for work which is why i got the other boot, so the work can be done to that then when the spray shop needs to spray it and fit it they won't have my car for too long.
Thats why I wanted to know the difference in spoilers cause if it don't fit round a Mk1 spolier I ain't drilling through the glass to fit the Mk2 if you know what I mean.
