The gti's are ok but a few people I know have had reliability issues with them better cars out there for the money tbh

They go ok for a ford... 130 bhp imo.
No discs on back which gives away the braking requirements...

130bhp as above but alot heavier than the saxo so wont handle/stop as well not a really justified upgrade imo

fair 1 i used to have a escort 1.4 wen i just passed my test i like the old escorts i had front and back strutbrace and lowered 40mm on 18'' it used to handle alot better thn my vtr and thats got front strut and lowered 60mm on standards

Handle well on 18's i doubt it tbh but thats just my opinion.
Vtr will always handle better than most cars

It shouldnt have done.
Saxo would handle better maybe just you drive faster now than you did then and it feels worse.
Wouldnt get rid of my vtr for 1 (if i had one)

mate used to have one. Even with a few mods it couldn't hold a candle to my old VTS. He eventually sold it for an old MX5, which he said was worlds better.

my mate just bought a r reg gti for 700 quid ... all it needed was tracking done and 2 front tires....
pulls well but there not as quick as vts's.

Wouldn't be too sure. I sold my first VTR for an RS2000 4x4 and it didn't seen as quick as the vtr.
Main problem with fords is everything electrical. They for whatever reason go through fuse boxes like there is no tomorrow. Check everything electrical if you are serious about buying one and check inside the boot and underneath for rust
