No brake lights - Saxperience

hi everyone I have no brake lights but the blubs DO work, thinking it's most likly the fuse which controls them has gone. I have looked in the manual but the fuse it says is for the brake light isn't, Can u help as i am braking the law.

1999 T reg VTR.

sounds like the fuse matey, do any of the other lights work?

have you messed aroung with them recently?

I've had a look but cant figure it out, the lights do come on if i switch them on, but dont when i press the brake pedal! the manal says the fuse for the brake lights are 15a? i dnt think this is correct.which fuse control the brake lights?

why dont you think it is correct?

the manual allocates refernce numbers and names to the fuses under the bonnet, so it should be clear which ones are associated with the brake lights.

or... a connection may have come loose where the cable connects to the brake lights. check and make sure that connections are being made.

otherwise, if all else fails, take it to your local citroen dealer and ask them to run a diagnostics test on it, which would tell them what has triggered this fault. but they will charge you for it.

when this happened to me it was the brake switch, the part cost about a fiver and didnt take the garage long to change. think its located under the pedal, no idea where tho!

do the fuses under the glove box have anything to do with the brake lights?

i always manage to knock the cover off for those but have never had to replace anything under there. what do those ones control!?!

but i dont have a glovebox anymore

I think it is one of the fuses under the glove box, I know the fuse for your heating, power-steering etc r under there. The back of the haynes-manual has diagrams of the fuse boxes which will tell u which one it is. Also which I think Damo has said, it could a lack of connection this happened to me after I changed my lights, check the circuit board thing which your bulbs r connected to to see if there is any rust or dirt etc if so you will need to clean this up with a wire-brush and leave to dry b4 putting it back in the car

just looked in my haynes manual the brake light fuse is in the fusebox in the passengerside footwell its F7 n its the only 15a amp fuse in the fusebox check it to see if its blown etc then like its already been siad check all the connections to the lights and wiring
