The UK...whys it gone to the dogs
the job i do atm is civil engineer, but i am starting a part time degree in construction management next wednesday. the course is 4 years which will take me till im 25. I just had a look at jobs abroad and came across australia as it seems popular. and i could earn 170 thousand dollars a year there with my degree. here i would earn about 50 to 60k.
just wondering if anyone could move there? and would they wanna leave everything they know behind for cash?
cheers

This came up last night in the pub. My friend has been approached by a company to live down under. A good handful of my mates have lived abroad and stuff for the summer but every one still said no.
I would love to move out to Dubai or something but i dont think i could do it, as much as dicks my mates are and how much i hate my lifestyle atm i dont think i could just pack up and piss off.

I personally couldn't move abroad for the simple fact, as much I hate life over here - Paying Tax, weather etc it's home if you know what I mean.
Friends Dad moves to Abu Dhabi (sp) on Sunday to be a Director of massive oil company, but she doesn't want to go so is moving in with her sister.

I fully intend to move to Aus or New Zeland once ive graduated.
I dont like the way this country is heading, even before all this recession stuff started.
Id much rather be an immigrant in a country where they are strict about who they let in, and where the prime minister actually has the balls to say what the whole country is thinking rather than pussy footing around.

Seriously though both my Mom and my brother moved to Australia and said coming back to this shit country is so depressing.
They'd both go back in an instant.
Brothers still got loads of stuff over there.

The wifes best friend moved out there 3 years ago, they lived it up for 6months then she became pregaz with there third child. They came back to the UK and had nothing, no job or home. They sorted that and she had the baby.
Shes waiting till the yougest is 6 then they will be going back out. Since returning shes started to study to come a nurse and her husband is a sparky now for my mrs dads company. That way they can get easy access back into the country.
They loved it and cant wait to go back.

I could move abroad tomorrow but I have a good job so don't feel I want to take the risk, as I may not be able to earn as much if I moved away. Although my GF was informed yesterday that she could have a job tranfer to NY in 6 months time for 1 years with the possiblilty to have a full time role out there. We have been discussing the offer all night as she get put in a flat for the first year for almost nothing and we both love NY.
The main problem is I don't think my GF can leave her family for that amount of time.

What are you going to do in Spain mate?
I would find it hard out there, I would need to go somewhere that speaks English.

Takes a strong minded person to move abroad and be all on your own from day one.
Me personally I wouldnt leave for good....would try it for 6months and then come back. See what a decent job here could offer me....if not I would pack up and leave again.
A decent city job here and a penthouse flat would suffice me.....50-70k a year and I would be happy
