Car(s): starlet glanza turbo and black 106 gti
|
i have one, there as follows,
1.3 dohc 16v turbo,
930kg
115bhp on low boost (0.4 bar)
136bhp on high boost (0.65 bar)
0-60 6.8secs in standard form
tops out about 130+ (jap limiter removed)
in standard form they are abit quicker than a vts,( i know this as i also own a 106gti) especially when you get on boost, boost in a hot hatch is addictive.
they can also ba tuned up to be absolute animals for minimal funds,
where as where you would pay 1500+ for a full tb set up and management and see 170 bhp ish on a vts or gti, i have spent 500 on my glanza and it will be soon running 190+ bhp.
they are also alot better made than the vts's or gti, no rattlin, clunks, jerks e.t.c....
interior on them looks abit dated but it were never a jap strongpoint.
im still in love with me french hatches, but these things are truly mad little cars.

unfortunalty that seems to be the problem with these cars as of late
not aimed at you personally but..
a lot of chavs have got their hands on glanzas and are all "runnin fuckin high boost" without modifying the engine properly
i wouldnt buy one unless from an import dealer..

I've been looking at buying a nice Starlet but since ive started looking at them bout 5 people near my way have got them :0(
I must admit they are starting to get a chavy image even though they are not that cheap to buy (well a decent one isnt anyway)
Humm maybe back to the drawing board and have another think about what car to look at getting next.

i cannot understand why people say things like this, take honda for example, probably one of the most reliable makers of cars and the type-r's absolutely fly. They are not jap crap, not many jap makes are crap IMO.
I've had a play with a few starlets and i was impressed with how quick they are, fast off the line and I like the aggressive looks. But alot have been thrashed tho, lots of people have turned up the boost and driven the tits off it, once the seal on the turbo goes of the engine starts screwing up they sell cheap, so there are some real stinkers out there.
But I know a lad who's had one for a couple of years, he looks after it and it's still going strong running approx 300bhp. So it goes to show that if looked after they are great little cars and are more than capable of imbarassing much larger and more powerful machines.
