Default To cam or not to cam..?

Still cant make my mind up.

+ Quicker car
+ Sort out the mapping
+ Can do it at same time as cambelt
+ Cheap in group buy atm
+ Will make me smile

- Its a car not worth too much
- It will cost atleast 1/3rd of the cars value for a 20-30bhp increase
- Until mapped will idle like shit
- Costs AGAIN, including insurance rise

Cannot make my mind up.

£270 + Parts + £80-100 labour + £300 remap = ATLEAST £670, but on the plus side the cambelt alone would be £120. So call it £500.

Opinions?

I want to be realistic, there is a chance I am moving to Canada at the end of the year and the costs wont be returned..

I don't just want a "do it, wikid fast" answer. Hmmm

do it, might add 1 or 2 hundred to resale value? probably not but either way it will be worth it! 500 for 20-30bhp seems like excelent value to me

If you were to keep the car for a year or two i would say do it (funds permitting ofc) other than that it's a pointless expenditure for the most part

If you were planning on keeping it and having some fun I'd say go for it. But it doesn't sound like you are planning that much fun so wouldn't bother personally mate.

Exactly.. mmm... I am too easily tempted though. I think I have to resist. Stupid group buys. I wish I was never on a car site sometimes.

Save your money for another 10 months. if your moving away why would you want to spend £500 on a car that you'll only have fun in for 10 months.

Its Logical!

Save the 'P' yO!

Lumpy idle's are sweet, its not a bad point. Love the sound of a cammed engine unmapped.

As said though, i wouldnt spend out on it if your thinking of moving away.
