you could compress them but i would just get lowering springs much easyer you have too take tthe springs out any way so just replace them.what ever you do dont cut them dont want you to get hurt.

haha, cutting or fucking about with them will make you lose your insurance altogether
buy some springs, or if you can afford it - get new shocks too

yes, its all counted as "modifying" your car
which the insurance company has to be informed about.
and to be honest - you'd be FAR better off with new springs...
choose the height you want, handling will be better and theyre not even expensive
this begs the question - why do you want to compress the springs anyway??

I wouldnt say that, but to be honest mate...
The suspension is an integral part of the car...if you start fucking around with it - it can affect other mechanical parts like driveshafts, gear box, bearings etc etc
So what starts as a time and money saver - can end up costing a shit load more in the long run.
My adive to you would be to buy a full suspension kit, and get it fitted professionally. Well worth the money, as anyone who has a set will agree

stop being a tightarse and spend 50 quid for proper lowering springs. new springs may affect insurance, but cutting springs could kill you. take your pick mate....

lowering springs are crap, worse handling that std, amazing how people think £50 will "improve" the handling of the car, the manufacturers obviously missed that one.
