Meguiars G220
Got one of these late last year, never used anything like it before, now the weather is getting better i've decided i need to put it to good use on my car.
The question is do you guys reckon i'd be better off getting a car panel from a scrapyard and practice or jump straight in (is it pretty foolproof?)

I used mine straight from the box. As long as you don't use a hard cutting pad/polish combination you should be fine

just use it sensibly, as 180 says dont get a major hard compounding pad with a major abrasive pad and keep the machine moving. I wouldnt bother buying panels.
once you have used it a few times you will get a feel for it.

Ive never used a G220 , I use a rotary buffer , but from what I have heard it is quite hard to burn through the paint with a orbital buffer . So you should be fine . Just dont go mental straigh off .
What polish and pad combination are you using ?

Complete novice here, lol.
This is what i got, Meguiars pads with Menzerna polishes.

good choice of package mate, the menzerna polishes are fantastic and so are the meguiars pads

Yeah ill second that . Not using Meg's pads at the minute but have in the past , but Menz polishes are awsome .

its hard to do any damage with the a da like the g220. i just got mine on sat and have tried it on the bonnet of my dads new civic. i used a 3M package which is very very good.
