ive got a single plug engine in a 3 plug car, but mines a later loom and it still isnt 100% as my dials dont work
a 98 loom will need the ends cutting off and each individual wire matching and joining, get rid and get a 3 plug loom

tbh nything can be done with the time nd effort.
if you had an early mk2 vtr it could have a single plug ecu but a big mutliplug where the engine loom meets the car loom. in that case a 3 plug vts engine would fit. there are complications with this though

do you recon i could get some wiring diagrams and wire the single plug engine loom to my car loom and you recon that would work

i do wire on cars as my job so i would prefer to try that first

easiest way to do this is geta 3 plug loom and engine instead of messing around going from 3 plug to single. As Lee said the loom will need altered to be succesful in all electrics working (dials and such)

just swap your 3 plug loom and ecu for a single plug one. i'd swap you because im after a 3 plug but my loom has the same multiplug as yours.
if you get hold of a single plug one though i'll buy your current ecu and loom

i no what your saying but if i can just get the pin out diagrams for the single plug loom connector between engine and car loom and the same for the 3 plug ecu engine to car loom then it should be easy enough to just de and re-pin them to fit my car. all i need is the connector pin diagrams for the connector on both looms if anyone can help!?!

or if anyone has a 3 plug engine loom and ecu out of a vts i would by that
if not im gonna try and make the single plug engine loom and ecu fit my car loom

theres different things though. my single plug loom has some sensors that go to the ecu and then back to the clocks, on a 3 plug the same sensors go straight to the dash without going via the ecu

cant i just run them sensors to the ecu and then take a feed off them and run them to the back of the clock

so if i do the wiring and the engine all works i wont have anything working on the clocks
