Bit of ASW :)
On Tuesday i sat a 1 hour interview / portfolio assesment with the BIPP (British Insitute of Professional Photography) in order to achieve a recognised qualification (on top of my BA hons) and membership. Not only did i pass my assesment but i manage to achieve the highest grade possible (Associateship)
the grades work as follows
fail
Licentiateship
Associateship
there is one more grade (Fellowship) i can apply for later after i have been a member for 5 years. there are only 2 dates for Associateship / fellowship assesments a year if you apply outside of uni
According to my tutor many photographers who have been doing it for 20 odd years have submitted portfolios to the BIPP and struggled to receive Licentiateship so for me to get Associateship straight out of uni is a pretty cool.
ASW rant over
cheers
James

thanks guys, basically having been accepted by the BIPP means my work has been judge and approved of being professional quality and as i managed to achieve Associateship it is a higher standard still.
It should help with future clients as many people look for this ( a bit like being a corgi registered electrician, it shows your work is of a certain standard) as well as giving some more letters after my name the BIPP also offers various seminars to memebers as well as promoting their work in various publications and the BIPP monthly journal.
as for what is next i am really hoping to work for a CGI and Photoshop rendering company call Taylor James. i have just finished up my showreel so i will be sending that off ASAP but they seemed interested in my work
cheers
James
