i agree, it should have been longer, but i can see that they have given him a short sentence due to the PTS.

can't believe he got off so lightly...there's plenty of other ex soldiers out their suffering with post traumatic stress disorder who don't hold knives to peoples throats...not suprised the victim feels let down by the system

two sides to it:
your mates: yes its an outrageous thing to happen and you would want to see that man go down.
the guy who did it: suffering a mental disorder, not able to control his thoughts and prob has voices telling him to do stuff, whilst prob still thinking he is in afgan with all the stuff going on in his head.
the bigger point is our government. the state they are bringing the troops back home in and not offering them all the help and support and councilling to be able to return back to the community is just plain not on.

what you have said is true of alot of serving and ex service men. Many of the people that join infantry army units are the 'type' of people that will have conducted this sort of behavouir irrespective of whether or not they have served in a warzoe
obviously PTS will be a contributary factor towards this sort of behavouir and may make someone more likely to commit this sort of offence but it cannot be held as an outright excuse as if what they have done is not wrong
however, i am not convinced that danny is completely innocent. he looks like the tasty type to me and i saw that comment about him spiking girls drinks

Pathetic, Copyright laws - £100,000 fine, up to five years (e.g. pirate bay owners - 1 year), Hold a knife to someones kneck or beat someone up £50 fine, let of, no sentence.
The system is broken.

If he did a stint in prison it probably wouldn't help stop him re-offending. He should however spend a mandatory minimum sentence in a mental institue or until they deem him not to be a threat to society.
A Curfew is pathetic. I hope your mate gets over it not exactly been helped by the courts.

it isnt shit atal mate, stop getting defensive over the fact that alot of army personal will have been involved in violent/criminal acts before joining up
alot of people join the army from lower social classes etc as a way of getting out, they are often no angels themselves
myself included, im in the middle of applying for the army and i have been convicted of violent offences in the past, i am currently on bail for another, so im not chatting shit, im chatting sense and im a walking example of this
im not saying infantry blokes go round with knives threatening to kill people but by the very nature of their job, they be enclined to adapt an aggressive demina
i have a few friends in the military so i no from experience when i say they are very anti social, little respect for 'civvies' and like to spit on women etc for fun.......

thats ridiculous......
makes me mad the fact that in this day and age how many people are getting away with stuff simply becasue they say......
"i have a mental illness"
thats total bollocks....
heard it the other week on the news when a 16 year old lad killed a baby he was looking after..... he had a mental illness........
it does NOT make it alright....

its called squaddie mentality
ok we hate civvies, have an aggressive job but dont tar everyone with the same brush mate
if you're on bail for another violent offence i suggest you discontinue with ya application, guarenteed you'll get knocked back
theres a waitin period you'll have to wait to show you wont re-offend, or in some cases wait until there spent
