went to halfrauds, came out and car wouldnt start

turn ignition to get electrics on and no problems, although electrics were slow (windows etc)

turn ignition 3rd time and 0 luck what so ever

eventually got it home after a bump start. but still no power batter cutting out and resetting

engine is fine, its the electrics

alternator? battery? or something else?

Battery isnt holding its charge or its the alternator not charging the battery for start up mate

get them both tested

battery should be charging at about 14.4 volts ideally

Things to check is

all wires especially earths

battery terminals, be sure there clean and put some white grease on them

cell plates, take the screw caps out, have a look to see if the metal plates are covered in water if not then top up with some de ionised water

You avent installed anything electrically lately?? boot light goes off when boot is closed??

cheers pred, got a new battery comming today, trade discount y0

i think it must be that, as opening my car was a struggle, not even enough power to un-alarm the car

i was thinking that if it was an alternator problem, then the lights etc wouldnt have come on whilst i was driving home?

the alternator belt is fine and appears to be working, so hopefully it's just a buggerd battery

when you get your new battery,put a voltmeter acroos to check static voltage,then put new battery on car,re-connect etc then start the car,as said above the battery voltage should go 14+volts,if it doesn't then could be alternator.
to make sure turn everything on,heater,rear de misters,main beams and check voltage drop.if goes below 14 then the alterntor is probably the problem.

might be a good idea like pred suggested to check the voltage across the battery with the engine running, just to make sure that the alternator is working correctly. But its more than likely just the battery was at the end of its life.
