Default question about car tax.

The car I might buy is declared off the road, and therefore has no tax.

If I drove this on the road, I would be breaking the law, but how do the police tell which cars have no tax?

Do they have to read the tax disc, or does it get picked up on the computer?

post office job? or tax online, so it comes up on the databased as taxed, just don't display the disc. And if you get caught doing that, its like 70quid fine. but at least you can drive it.
