Angry Loss of power, running like a tractor!

I posted this on 106 owners but thought i'd see if anyone had any ideas on here to

I went to put some petrol in last night and on the way it was being a bit hesitant at times when putting my foot down a bit, but i just thought it was due to being well in the red! So filled up and left the petrol station.

On the way back it started being a bit hesitant again but it was only very slightly.

then i got to a national speed limit dual carriageway and a 1.8 astra wanted a play, so i booted it and i just sat behind him and didnt gain on him at all! it just went all limp and felt like a 1.1!

I pulled off the carriageway after being beaten by an astra it went reaaaly sluggish and it wont drive at 30 in 4th gear, it even stalled when i went up my driveway.

i went for a drive in it this morning and it was the same, but all of a sudden it started running ok again, but as soon as i went up to 2.5-3k it went powerless again and started playing up!

The engine is rocking when on idle and the engine note sounds totally different and is sort of pulsing, the revs aren't moving on the rev counter but it feels like its going to stall on start up but doesnt.

Sorry for the long post but the more info the better!

Has anyone else had the same problem in the past? every now and then on idle the revs will go up for a second then drop down but i dont know if this is anything to do with it?

thanks for any help if youve read this far !
