Part-time driving job at 18?
Has anyone ever had a part time driving job at 18? Where can you work, and what sort of driving? What's required for the job and what's the pay etc like?
I'm just trying to see what sort of driving jobs you can do at 18 part-time as I'd be interested in trying to get a driving job instead of my current job in a store! Would be much more fun imo. Main thing really is the part-time bit, ~15 hours give or take. Any ideas? E.g. What's required to become a taxi driver?
Preferabley driving in another car to your own (because of wear and tear etc.)

forget taxi driver as theres a lot of unseen costs to think of, ie: taxi hire / equipment hire in the taxi etc. only thing i can think of is pizza delivery on a bike or work part time delivering for a hardware company.

When you say hardware company, is that things like screwfix? (Sorry if that seems a stupid question!) Anyone done deliverys for a local chinese/takeway? If so what was that like?
And when they say you need '1 years driving experience', does that year include learning to drive ? I.e. I started learning on December 2nd 2008, passed on March 31st 2009, will I have a years driving experience already? Or do I have a years driving experience on March 31st 2010?
Cheers!

How many hours is that doing? Was it a matter of they pay you a flat rate and you cover petrol etc? Or amount per delivery etc? Presumebly your average takeaway is going to be bothered about age/experience?

As said most places will want a years experiance, that is of holding a full license.
Some will want 3year and others that you are over 21.
If you use your own car then dont forget to get business use added to the policy

Yeah I was looking up about that as there seem to be confusion as to whether or not it was 21 or not, is it definitely 18 then? Anyone work for them part-time? What's the job like?

Not too bad suppose. I would need to take home around £100+ a week for it to be worth leaving my current job, even then with the wear on the car + petrol it might be hard to earn that much ? Currently do 15 hours a week though.
