Saxo VTR Buying
Hi all,
I'm getting a Saxo VTR and have seen one in the paper today. X reg with 113k on the clock. It has full main dealer service history and a lady owner. A Saxo with 113k? Is this too much??
I'm only 17 and its gonna be my first OWN car. What are the things to look out for when buying one?
Also, anything i can do to make the car itself stronger?! lol...ive heard there like tin and if you have a crash, your the crumple zone!
cheers!

Alternatively use the obvious links like pistonheads.com, gumtree.co.uk etc

113k isnt too bad - as with any car just make sure its well maintained and generally looked after. Also, there isn't any way to improve the safety unless you dont mind a hike in insurance.

Thanks for the replys guys.
Think i'll give that one a miss. I did think 113k was a bit OTT to be honest.
Whilst looking, i had completely forgot about PistonHeads!!! Found a nice little VTR with 88k for a tidy price.
Pretty sure the insurance companies are gonna rape me though lol. Oh well.
Cheers

Dont do this unless your mum really is the main driver of the car, which as you stated she obviously wont be!

Nah im going on my own policy. Too risky goin as a named driver.
Whats the difference between the 2000/2001 VTR's. Something about 90bhp and 98bhp; and the 98bhp one having a lower tax band? The one ive seen is an X reg. How will i know if its a 90 or 98bhp car? i imagine it'll say it on the log book?

My VTR was X reg and it was a 90bhp model. If its registered after Sept 2000 then its a 98bhp.
I had to get rid of my VTR though, tax and insurance were both sky high and it was very high maintenance >.<

Oh my days! Fair enough mate, good luck with the buy!
113k on an X reg is exceedingly high, be careful!
