exhaust querie??

i went down scrappy the other day with my mate and found a powerflow on the back of a 1.4 saxo, i asked how much it was and he said fiver, so i took it, had some pipeing wealded on so it was then a direct fit from standard to this. my querie is my car is a mk1 1.1 and with the exhaust on it was so so loud! really loud between 1k to 2k, 2k to 3k quiet 3k to 4k extremly loud then after that to 6k quiet,.... the is two 3 inch pipes coming out of it, but why is it so so loud but gets quieter?? also is there anything i can do apart from take it off to make is quieter??

depends on design of the silencer, size of the silencer and material in it etc......

it does look straight through that could be why, ok thanks
