They need to have the BS code on it irc and definatly need the code for where it was made You would have to come accross a fussy officer for them to pull you for that though, as its quite hard to see anyway. Theyll probably only pick up on it if you have ilegal font or somthing aswell or Icon to the left.

Places will make show plates but for proper plates you do need to take proof.

Usually in tiny, tiny letters there is a code that reads something like BSAU 145d. I think it means that the plate is the correct font and spacing etc

The code is usually at the bottom or at one of the corners of the plate.

police have nothing better to do, the way i see it is if they can see my reg numbers and letters then there is no problem where im concerned. its just one of their ways of making money off people by fining then, because its a couple of cm's out, how pathetic!

I would just leave it personally, unless your plates are not the right size? Different font? Or incorrect spacing?

Go to S C Motor Factors in Welling or Sidcup, they will sort you out a pair for under £20.

You will probably just need your V5.

Welling Branch Number - Tel: 020 8317 7774

Sidcup Branch Number - Tel: 020 8302 7624
