How to spray plastic

I have resprayed my interior bought decent plastic primer sanded it first multiple thin layers then multiple base coats then lacquer and just looks really tacky and chips so easily?!?! i always have this experience when i spray plastic all the examples of plastic spraying on here look really proffesional how do you all do it? is the secret just use gloss paint? thanks

i use normal car spray, even if its metallic, just make sure you have a good key, then do some layers of primer then the colour you want then a few layers of lacquer. also the primer i use is also car primer.

do a layer, let it dry, sand back any imperfections. rinse and repeat. i took my time and it took me a good few hours to do the mirror caps as i left them after each coat!

it depends if your painting solid plastic or soft plastic. the soft plastic flexes and will crack and chip where as the solid plastic won't. it sounds like you havn't washed the plastic right and where it is chipping off it hasn't stick to it. a little while spirit on a rag or panel wipe would be the best thing wipe it on with one rag and wipe it off with another. then use the primer on a dust coat, let it dry. the do a proper coat let it dry. sand any imperfection out with 800 wet and dry. another coat sand, then dust coat with the top coat. let it dry then a proper coat. now laquor only really needed for metallics as that paint is clear over base (the actualy colour is a base coat and the laquor is needed to seal it in). if your just doing it in a solid colour then gloss paint will do.

after each stage, primer, colour, laquer. leave it for 24 hours

what parts of interior you paintin maybe you havent sanded it to some if your doin like your gear stick serround and they have indented patterns in them good advice form people tho thanks guys this helped me to

Warm the plastic gently with a hairdryer before spraying the plastic takes the paint better.Also a good plastic primer is Halfords filler primer.
