Cool JAMason's Saxo vts! No0b to the forum!

Ok so I'm new here, but I'm not new to the French hatch scene! I have recently sold my S1 rallye and it was a sad day but i needed a more comfortable everyday drive and i really wanted a 16v.

Good bye s1!

So after lots of shopping around, and money saving. I found a beautiful 106 GTI for sale, with alot of work already done to it.

So naturally i had booked my self a viewing and called my insurer...this is when it all went pair-shaped. the insurance company i was with refused to insure me on the car leaving me with only one option if i were to buy it, switch insurance company. Now to some of you, this may sound simple enough, bite the bullet and do it, but i turn 23 in a week and only have 2 years no claims, iv been driving since i was 17 in 2005 and NEVER crashed (Touch wood!!!!!) so should really have 5, iv lost the other 3 due to buying lots of cars and always switching company! And with this policy running out on the 12th of December i decided that i was going to stay with them to earn my 3rd year! With the decision made, the hunt was on for an equally good, and well looked after Saxo, and this is what i got for my £1840

2003 Citroen Saxo VTS
Black
54000 miles
12 months MOT (Passed the day i went to view it!)
6 Months Tax
FSH
Last service at 51000 miles including water pump,
Cam Belt
Plugs and Leads
Oil, g-box oil and filter
Brembo disks all round
5.1 Break Fluid
and Alternate Belt
So she looked all set for the winter ahead!

Few pics of how she looked! (Personalized plate was the last owners, she is on the 03 one!)

After talking to the lad i was buying it off he agreed to throw in a few extras for a small fee! The car has now got a 3" saxsport fitted, its very boomy and im thinking of switching to a 2" (if anyone is up for swapping the rear sections from their saxsport, let me know! ;p) or even putting the standard one on i have at home, but dont want to lose the extra power the saxsport is providing!

He also agreed to leave the Autoflocked dash in the car instead of replacing it with the standard one! So i have a lovely flocked dash

The eagle eyed of you will have also noticed the gear stick...it may look like a big horrible chav halfords knob, but this car got all the factory extras, its a Saxo Sport Gear knob, it has the silver peddles and the Fuel cap as well, all saxo sport branded. adding a bit of weight, but i like the look of them, think they set the interior off nicely!

I have a Swade Dished wheel sitting in the boot of my car at the moment, and iv just spoke to a guy from the 106rallye register calle Mark Yates from YBracing today and placed an order for my OMP hub kit, should have that by next Week, so i will have everything i need to complete the dash!

Under the bonnet the usual breather mods have been carried out, Raceland Enclosed carbon effect Air box has been fitted, and there is a Green Cotton filter inside. A 4-2-1 raceland manifold also fitted to accompany the saxsport decat! And there is a nice OMP Upper strut brace fitted as well.

I have a few ideas for what i want to do to clean up the engine bay as well. I have been emailing a few people today and got my self a good quote. Will keep it quiet for now, its nothing we haven't all seen before i just think it will set my Engine bay off nicely!

Then on the handling side of things, Lee, the last owner, had a set of 283mm calipers sitting about his garage from a 306 gti6 and some Goodridge braided hoses, so after some fiddeling about and modifications we got them to fit with a new set of Pads!

And to top it off, the car came with a set of apex shocks and Faulkner 155lb springs fitted to the front suspension and had the rear beam lowered 40mm to match, so the car corners surprisingly well for a saxo! As you can also see from the photos at the top, the headlights got replaced with a set of Black ones, also has the badgless grill fitted! Iv got a TRS tow strap to fit to the front as well in yellow to match the callipers. And iv got a few other little ideas for my car!

Will update this as i go. Get some more pictures after a machine polish over the weekend!

sorry to sound a bit dense here, but to lower your insurance you bought a car with a higher insurance group and more modifications......................

Haha! I wasnt lowing my insurance over the Rallye, I was upgrading to a 16v but I didnt want to lose my 10months NCB I had on the Rallye, so was staying with my isurance company, but they wouldn't insure me on a 106gti, but would for some reason on a Saxo VTS.

And thanks leeumH, I'm very happy with it, could do with the bonnet being respraid, few blemishes, but nothing I can't live with!

Well i got a little parcel in the post today, My TRS tow Strap arrived

And just one of my Brandless wheel...

I do have a spare OMP button off my old MX5 that fits in the hole but i feel cheap with that in the hole when only the boss is OMP and the wheel is some random brand! Will fit it for now but i fancy a little carbon fiber blanker to fill it! Here it is with the button anyway!

My birthday tomorrow, so im thinking COD Black Ops, another years xbox Live Gold membership, Some new Supra high top Trainers and then maybe something for the car...i know what i want, its just stumping up the £200 and waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive! In the mean time i will try and get this wheel and tow strap fitted!

Thanks chaps! hub should be here on Wednesday, than I will have to remove this wheel and airbag with out setting it off! haha! Fitting this will put three warning lights on in my car...engine due to the lack of cat, battery due to odd connection somewhere and airbag due to the lack of airbag...bloody hate warning lights! Iv also just managed to get my hands on 250 graffiti style brightly colord stickers...sticker bombing anyone?!?!?!? The pasanger A pillar and rear view mirror...see how many that takes and see if there are any other parts to bomb up!

That gti was my dream car, if it want for my insurance (I'm 23 tomorrow, never crashed but only have 2 year NCB because I keep swapping my cars!!) I would have been loving life and spending alot of time stripping it out and Rallye specing it up!
This way though, Iv got a sensible car that I'm going to drive till it won't drive any more and get my self a second car when I get a better more secure job! It will be an s2 Rallye because i actually love them!
Thanks though mate, Saxo has really grown on me now, thought I had made a mistake when I first bought it!

My new Hub arrived today cant wait to get the wheel fitted finally, and i fitted the TRS tow strap! Pay day tomorrow! So im in talks with Mark Yates again from YBracing (Supplied my OMP hub and a few other things for my Rallye) I currently have a 3" saxsport fitted, hate the noise, so if the price comes back good, im going to buy a 2" rear section to replace it, they Look naff compared to the 3" on saxo's but at least it will be less BOOOOOMY! Depending on the costs i have to think about what i want more this month...im also looking at some nice Carbon touches...will see what i buy at the end of this week!
Some pics of the New hub and Tow Strap!
