hey all i have had a quick search through all the topics on here but didn't really find what i was looking for

my clutch was acting up on me wednesday i spoke to a couple of people and they suggested tightening it so done that, took it for a little test drive then it went fully, no responce or anything

i had a mechanic come and look at it today and he said it was the bearing inside the clutch that was gone not the cable as originally thought

has anyone else had this problem? and has anyone got any ideas? the bloke suggested as the gear box had to be removed to get to the cluth to get a whole new one (clutch) and ive just been quoted £184.99 to get it done, does that sound about right?

any thoughts are welcome
Cheers

If your thrust bearing has gone (that's the thing your talking about) you need to take the whole clutch housing off to get to it. This is quite a time consuming job so it makes sense to replace the whole 3 piece clutch at the same time. Job would take about 2 days giving you plenty of time.
A quality cluch costs around £100, so if your quote is £185 fitting as well that's good with labour around £40 per hour in some places. If it's just to buy the clutch without fitting that sounds on the steep side. hope this helps. By the way always fit a new cable. Whole job is fairly easy, hope this helps.

yeah sounds like release bearing

it comes with the clutch so you might aswell replace the clutch

i think £185 is a tap steep but that could be because of the area as everywere is diffrent
