fuckin PS3 just died - Saxperience

just went to turn it on, wont do fuck all. It turns on, screen comes up saying to log in, controller wont do anything, cant move up or down or nothing. Turne dit off, and back on, and now it wont even come up on the screen at all, and if it does, it has squares on the screen as if its crashed. Fuck sake what a twat

Not sure whats wrong but it doesn't sound like YLOD, as you wouldn't see anything at all it wouldn't switch on, just shows a yellow light and beeps then turns off

When mine fooked up ages ago I just had to put a new hdd in and it worked fine again

Any laptop hdd will do so you can get 250GB for £40

no it doesnt have YLOD. I rung that guy i mentioned in my previous thread from batley and straight away he said does it have YLOD, i said no, it will turn on, and sometimes the screen comes on to where you log in as your user, but the controller wont do anything, then other times the screen doesnt come on at all, then it does, and theres squares all over the screen, as if its crashed kinda thing? Wed night though i was playing CSI game, and it crashed, but it was like 1 in the morning, so i turned it off via the power button on the back? As the touch power button on the front wouldn't do anything at all, i don't like doing it but it was the only way to turn it off, then i went back to it yesterday then found it like this.

I think it will still turn off if you hold the power button at the front down for 5 seconds or so.

What has the guy said?

na it didn't i tried it. Wouldn't do anything, turning off from the back is always my last resort, as lik i say i dont like doing it. I dropped it off with him yesterday, he said he'll have a look at it, but he said he had another one like it not long ago, and said he should have it ready for today and he'll give me a ring

ive just come off the phone to him, he says the YLOD did come on, he's fixed that, but its still not working. On the right and side of the PS3, theres a green and blue light. The blue light isn't coming on, somebody mentioned getting a new hard drive, would this work? if so would there be any chance of transferring my game saves?
