Default saxo vtr mk2 dials..quick question!

sup
few days back i made a rushed attempt to change the colour of my dials..i ended up fully killing 3 of them (pic below) so now i need a dash dials board.

the question is...new dash dials = settin milage again which costs around 40 quid? but its digital..if thats the case then why when i disconnect the battery everythin gets reset but the milage? so surely the milage is not in the dials!

might sound silly but i thought id ask before buyin a new one because someone said i will need to redo the milage...thanks!

The mileage on a mk2 cluster are stored in what can best be described as a memory unit.
