Default Whats the most BHP you can expect from a VTS without a remap?

What is the most HP you can expect without going for a remap and is it worth dropping in fast road cams without the remap?

I suppose it would be a raceland induction, 4-2-1 manifold & piper exhaust on a 16 vts engine.. I'm just trying to gauge how much more power I would gain over my VTR engine as I've just had my arse spanked around Anglesey sprint by a couple of 1.9 205 Gti's

No mapping just an unlocked ECU to make it work in my VTR.

Realistically about 130 tops with that setup. You could Chase more power than that (mild cams, p@p head, bigger valves, bigger pistons, raise compression ect) but not mapping it severely limits what you can do. It's not all about big power mate, spending a grand on suspension and brakes will make a bigger difference round a track than a grand on the engine.

fit a s1 rallye gearbox, billie group n's with decent springs , polybushes, gti arb and some big brakes and it will be a quick car round a track regardless of the standard engine

fucking spot on

THOSE mods should be done first if your not going to fork out for a decent map.

if you do those mods first, then concentrate on the engine, ie. camming, 4-2-1, p@p etc then the rest of the car will be able to cope with the extra stresses.

I've got those.. it handles like it's on rails.. 206gti brakes, adjust rear shocks, polybushed, front lower brace, thicker arb and H&R shocks and springs up front and yoko prarada tyres oh and a roll cage to stiffen things up.. so it's really the engine I need to focus on.. just trying to keep the budget down..

here's some footage from this weekend.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwGLOr3BClo there's a nice see view about 3 quarters the way around if the driving gets dull

It was a long track with a lot of straights so power was the missing ingredient really a massive long straight that I struggled to get above 95mph, although I'm a Curborough next weekend which is a lot shorter so maybe I'll even the score a little

Video doesnt work for me pal, probably my shitty old computer lol.
If you've spent all that money already why dont you want to get it mapped? If its a 1 plug you could get a predator on it at a decent price. Bottom line is you will struggle to get past 150bhp without it being mapped, youll also sacrifice drivability and be stuck with the standard rev limiter

Edit: If you want more acceleration to pull you out of the corners, fit a s1 rallye gearbox or a xsi box. i should think youll still have enough top end speed for a long straight, but it will get there much quicker

I have 141 bhp from my 16v on standard map (3 plug)

With
Kent PT50 cams (mild ones)
BMC CDA filter
Raceland 421
Susperspint race centre
Kamracing V1 backbox

Probably with std cams it would be around 130 bhp

I'll hopefully pick up a VTS box with the engine, I think I'll probably do some external mods on the VTS then look at the ph3 cams and map in one hit.. I'll look into the predator box aswell thanks for that!

My sax runs a procomp induction, Raceland 4-2-1 and a piper exhaust system.

Made 135bhp on the rollers.

Deffo look for a remap if your after more power! it'll make the car perform better overall i think.
