Default First DSLR Camera...can't decide??

Right, basically I'm getting my first DSLR camera soon. I know abit about cameras/photography, but I'm undecided on which one would be best.

Budget of £500 max.

Torn between these two: http://www.jessops.com/online.store/Compare/List.html

Anyone have any advice?

just the choice of lenses is a bit on the wank side.

Without even looking at the two you're comparing, go with the nikon, or the canon.

I just got home from getting a Canon 1100D. Was after the 550D but forgot about the memory card cost, insurance cost, and cary bag thing etc. Came to just under £550 for the camera, one lense, 4gb car, bag and lense cover or something oh and insurance.

Only difference I will be able to tell being an amatuer is the video capability. 550D has full HD, my 1100D has some other High Def standard, not full though. Will be adequate though

Jessops was the 2nd cheapest after argos with a quick froogle search. Probably available elsewhere for a few £ cheaper but wasnt that concerned and wanted a camera that day.

Don't say that, I got my camera from Jessops. Was the cheapest I could find it anywhere @ £399.99 and they had interest free finance on it for 6 months which was nice.

I started with a Nikon D3100 and its great.

The staff will try and sell you a 2gb card for £20 though. lols

I have a Nikon D200 and it was cheaper everywhere else but jessops, and I found all accessories are wayyy overpriced too!

7dayshop.com is the best place to get photography equipment imo.
