Default Securing new Gearknob?

Hi all, just hacked off the old gear knob and literally left it down to the bare metal bar, which of course is a weird shape. I was thinking I should have left the black bit on so I can secure the new gear knob properly? Even with grubs in at the moment it's nowhere near secure.

A little bit of guidance from someone would be brill, got the MOT in mid Jan and have that gut feeling it will fail horribly!

Peace.

Fuck your new knob off and get a tap and die set then thread the metal shaft. Then find a nice threaded gear knob for a honda ect and thread it on.

Or buy yourself some longer grub screws or wrap duck tape around until your knob fits on.
