Manifold Help! - Saxperience

right im after a manifold for my 2002 VTR phase 2 model - 8.valve model.

ive been offered a second hand supersprint 4-2-1 stainless steel manifold for £120. im told it needs a sleeve for the sensor and old filter relocation kit.
(anyone got a price for the sleeve and relocation kit?)

raceland manifold. £160 delivered brand new from ebay.

Sounds best option to me offer him a low price and work up just dont pay over the odds for it.

I've got a Piper 4-1 (same as the GMC) and im happy with mine paid 160 for it 2nd hand.

Hold up, how can one of the manifolds not require the sleeve?

The way the 2 lambda sensors system works is this: The first probe (high up before the cat) is the important one, this checks the running of the car and the air fuel mixture of which the readings are taken to the ecu for the mixture to be changed. The second sensor basically checks the condition of the cat to make sure it is working. It does this by comparing the readings of the first sensor versus its readings. If the second sensor reads cleaner gases than the first then all is ok. IF you plumb both sensors into the new manifold then both probes will read the same and the ecu will flag an error.

Im not sure if with this error the ecu actualyl does anything else, if it was the first one at fault then thats different,.

By having the first one plumbed back into the manifold it still does its job and with the second one secured in its sleeve it will only ever read cleaner air that the first so no error should be flagged.

aye very possible or something similar, i have heard of people cable tying sandwich bags around them to... suppose as long as its air tight it should work

I got a spare one if its needed. Does the same job as a GMC one but i made two at work. Iv used one but the other is a spare i dont need.
