is tram lining just where it follows like dips/grooves in the road? Like when you drive on rails...? surely there is nowt you can do about it?

Did he mean crabbing?

Normally means your chassis is bent, you could check your rear beam is sitting properly.

Tram lining would suggest your chassis is perfectly straight. How many tram lines do you see that are bent? lol

It'll be your rear beam. Get it refurbished or replaced.

Are your rear wheels like this / \ ?

Ive never heard of tramlining, but ive heard of crabbing, Its when the wheels on the front are not in-line with the wheels on the back.

problem solved.... one of the tyres was a 185/60/14 on the rear and the others are 185/55/14
put on the spare and viola no more sliding.
