Exclamation Cat converter and oil filter damage

Hi,

I need some advice please: I bought a saxo 1.1 desire.
Just after the purchase I realized that the cat converter matches the oil filter!! The oil filter is damaged and it reaches the manifold.....It is very dangerous, because the manifold adds heat to the oil, and if the oil filter leaks it might burn!

So I would like to ask for a favour: Anyone who has a 1.1 saxo, can you take a picture please on your car just to see how big is the distance originally? What do you think how can it be fixed simply?
My first idea was to replace the cat converter to a new one, but I am affraid the exhaust wont stay in position with this new one..
I would be grateful to any suggestions/help!
thanks and regards

It could be a vt manifold as they usually have a plastic filter not sure if its different in mk1s and mk2s (i think it is) I had a standand manifold (looked like your one) and I changed to a de-cat and melted the plastic filter so had to change to a metal one like yours

you need to relocate the filter it seems the previous owner has bashed it in so the mani can fit. which means the oil filter probably isnt doing its job to the best of its ability.

its got the wrong filter set up altogether, cars with cats in the downpipe had the plastic capped filter, either someone has decatted the car in the past and converted to early type filter or someones fitted an earlier engine and just couldn't be bothered to swap the filter housings over. looks a mess anyway

not sure why it took 8 other posts for this to get mentioned

OP, if you look to the right of the head shield on the top of the Manifold, you can see the top of the oil filter!
