Default Saxo engine change

Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice, I have a saxo vts and I am looking to put a bigger faster engine in it, was thinking a citroen engine would be easier to fit and was looking at a 2ltr vts xsara enigne.

Not sure what kind of room I have to play with and also if a bigger engine would be too heavy for the car. I use it mainly for 1/4 mile drag racing so want it to be quick for this purpose.

Cheers.

From what I've read putting an xsara vts or gti 6 engine in is a bit too much work and money for the gains, and you'd probably be better off boosting the vts lump tbh

What's your budget for modifications? Replacement engine is, 99% of the time, an utter waste of effort and time. If your doing 1/4 miles, lose weight before adding power. Dave_p's car iirc is in the 12's and (again iirc) he has standardish engine.

Cool thanks guys, Thats what I wasnt sure off ie replacing the engine being too heavy and a waste of time. This is my project and funds are low so the car has the below so far.

mk 1 1999 shell
Replacement vts 2002 engine 60,000
new rad
new clutch
Lowered
Fully stripped out with 2 sparco bucket seats
forced air inductuion kit
full racing exhaust using 4-2-1 racing manifold

I was looking to then add a set of high lift cams and a good re-map with some sticky tyres and a short shifter hoping to speed up my times, its running 14.9 to low 15s at present.

After all that though it seems to then get really pricey to mod?

Any other ideas?

If your using if for 1/4 mile drags then you could put a 1.1 box or a 106 ralleye box in to shorten the gear ratio's, but apart from that your looking at big $$$ tbh
