Default Intermittent problem

I have a saxo 1.1 desire x reg and the battery light keeps coming on at low revs and the power steering goes is this the pas pump or the alternator that needs replacing as the alternator does make a bit of noise ?
need help as cant afford to replace something that possibly isn't faulty.
In advance thanks for any help on this matter.
Rob.

Sounds like the belt slipping to me at low revs its not gripping enough and the belt that runs the altenator runs pas aswel tighten the belt and give the crank pulley a look over the inside of the pulley could be perished

If its not the belt slipping/in need of replacing then it could be the alternator bearings making a noise.Btw scrapso only a vts has a rubber insert on the crankcase pulley all other saxo`s use a solid metal pulley.
