clutch bearing?

bought my vts the other day and i notced the clutch it makeing a grinding sound when compressed and sometimes i find it hard to select any gear i was wondering if this is the clutch bearing (made the same sound on my corsa but the gear selection was fine) so i was wondering if i niped the clutch wire up abit if it would make it easyer for the mean time and how much is it on avrage to get the baering replaced or would i be able to do it my self i have some mecanical know how

stoped going into any gear while the engine is running when i turn it of i can put it in gear and lift clutch and it will move
