Default Saxo handbrake light coming on while driving!

Hi, my handbrake light keeps coming on while driving, after this light comes on the car pulls itself as if i have put the handbrake on without even touching it? Any idea what this could be? thanks.

My first guess would have been to check brake fluid level. as that triggers the same light when the fluid is low buuuut.

I don't see how the light can come on, the handbrake cable must be loose for the handle to raise up itself (to trigger the warning light)?

My best guess is you've got binding brakes at the rear on one or both sides.

Either they are seizing or the flexi lines at the back are needing replaced as they can swell internally and hold brake pressure and give intermittent binding.

Ideally, you need someone to actually see it.

If your brakes aren't actually coming on, see below at others posts. these switches are made of cheese.

The button the hand brake pushes down is quite flimsy side to side - so can slip up the side of the hand brake lever. So worth checking.

Mine does this, but being stripped its easily accessible, so not sure if possible with carpet in place.

Mines is like this with the light blinking so I cleaned the button as the fluid was fine and it seems that when the hand brake is down it is just slightly touching the button so if you go over a bump the light comes on. Do you think putting a little extra piece of plastic on the button will do the trick? Bit of a bodge but oh well.
