Help?
Hi there,
Im going to test drive a saxo vtr mk1 tomorrow. How do i check to see wheather the car is worth buying as in blown head gasket?
Ive been told to drive the car until the car warms up and then remove the cap ontop of the head gasket to see if the oil is thick like mayonaise??
Is this true?
What else do i need to look out for?
Thankyou

hpi check is what you need firstly, always always get one
http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehiclechec...24EA91A00BCE79
you can get one from there, you dont need mot and chassey number and that just add in the reg
what about a local garage? could ask them if you took car down? what about your dad or someone like that?
if you cant then go to rac or aa and get them to check over the car mate safest way

Il need to speak to the lad again to get some more details about the car.I live with my mum,so its a bit of a piss take taking my mum down to buy a car.I took a mate down a few days ago to inspect the car for me.The car was kinda rattly and noisey?I think the car has been thrashed to be honest bu the engine was in mint condition. The car has been parked up with no road tax for like a month.I checked under the oil cap after a quick blast round the block and it was yellow kinda mix with oil.My mate said that it was a sign for a blown head gasket???
How much would it cost if the head gasket blew?
Cheers
